Founded in 1937, the Westchester Chess Club is one of the area's most established and active chess communities. We offer fun, competitive play and lectures from some of the region's top instructors — welcoming players of all ages and ratings throughout the year.
We meet Thursday nights from 7:30 to 10:30 PM and typically run tournaments lasting three to six weeks, with one round per night. We also occasionally host one-night events. Registration is not automatic — if you'd like to play in a tournament, please use our sign-up links or let the Tournament Director know in advance. Rated tournament participants must hold a current USCF membership (sign up at uschess.org).
Schedules and FAQs are posted to our website. For any specific questions, and to be added to our mailing list, please contact us.
Special note on Trinity Lutheran Church occupancy rules:
The Westchester Chess Club has been graciously hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church in Scarsdale since the year 2000. We ask all members and guests to treat the property and its staff with respect.
Members are welcome in the Upper Room on the second floor, as well as the bathrooms and the storage closet where chess equipment is kept. All other areas of the building are off limits.
No food or beverages are permitted, with the exception of bottled water. Before leaving, please ensure the Upper Room is tidy, with chairs pushed in and tables returned to their proper positions.
